General Game Details
What the hell is Rage?!??
Rage is a newly announced game under development at id Software, the legendary software developers who bought you the likes of Doom, Quake and Wolfenstein.
Whats the story?
Details are a little thin at the moment, but what we do know is that the game takes place on Earth, now a Mad Max-esque, post-apocalytpic wasteland thanks to a comet which collided with the planet in the non too distant future.
Oh it's an id game, brains out guns in then?
Id have confirmed that although the game will stick with to the sci-fi, first person shooter style game we're used to from them, a heavy emphasis will also be placed on racing, and even incorporate more 'adventure' gameplay elements, and players will be able to use money won from races to upgrade their vehicles.
Is this a PC exclusive?
Not at all! The brand new technology fueling Rage (id-Tech 5, covered below) offers developers an exciting prospect in that it can easily be ported to multiple systems using the exact same artistic assets, requiring studios to only change core elements to port their games over to different platforms. Rage is currently confirmed for PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Mac OS X.
What's id Tech 5?
Id Tech 5 is the technology fueling Rage. Developed as always inhouse at id Software, the engine brings with it fantastic visuals, and features which afford game's artists massive creative potential. We have sections dedicated to id Software's game engines on the site, click here to learn more about id Tech 5.
Is there any media I can take a looksie at?
Certainley, just take a look at our Downloads section to see what's currently available.
What's the release date?
When it's done... no we don't know when that is yet.
What are the system requirements?
It's going to be some time before we know this, but given that id Software's engines have always been relatively friendly to PC users, coupled with the fact that the game is already running beautifully on current PC's and Consoles is a good indication that we won't be looking at another Crysis (not that that'd be a bad thing mind you!).
